Sources tell The New York Times that Meta is considering leasing computing power to Anthropic in a deal valued at $10 billion over two years, with Anthropic paying Meta in monthly increments.
Though Anthropic plans to invest $50 billion in building out its own data centers, it has already struck multibillion-dollar deals to access computing power from SpaceX and TeraWulf.
The Compute Race
- SpaceX: Already provides compute to Google and Anthropic
- TeraWulf: Signed 20-year lease for an AI data center in Kentucky
- Meta: Looking to monetize excess compute capacity
This marks a shift in the AI arms race — instead of just building data centers, companies are now trading compute power like energy commodities.
